Troubleshooting

A microphone is not producing a signal

  1. If the microphone requires phantom power, confirm that the channel’s +48V switch is on.
  2. Try another XLR cable.
  3. Check the microphone connection and all connections from ASP880 to the recorder or interface.
  4. If the channel’s A-D switch is engaged, confirm that the intended signal is connected to the corresponding direct ADC input / insert return.

ASP880 will not lock to an external clock, or the audio clicks and pops

  1. Press SAMPLE RATE until the LOCK switch flashes green. This selects external-clock mode.
  2. Confirm that the master clock source is valid and set to the required sample rate.
  3. Connect the master clock to the ASP880 BNC input with a 75 Ω BNC coaxial cable.
  4. A valid clock should make the green LOCK indicator illuminate steadily.
  5. Ensure there is only one clock master in the system.
  6. Check master/slave configuration, clock cabling and termination. Engage the ASP880 75 Ω termination only when it is the only or final device in the word-clock chain.
