Analogue Outputs, Inserts & ADC
Analogue line outputs
ASP880 provides eight fully balanced, cross-coupled line-driver outputs on a rear-panel DB25 connector. The output circuit is derived from the ASP8024 console and uses a differential pair of operational amplifiers.
The connector uses the Tascam DB25 analogue pinout. Output impedance is less than 100 Ω balanced and maximum output level is +27.5 dBu. Use these outputs when operating ASP880 as an eight-channel analogue microphone preamplifier or as the send path to external processing.
Direct ADC access and inserts
Eight balanced ADC line inputs are provided on a second Tascam-format DB25 connector. They provide direct access to the converters with +18 dBu input headroom, where 0 dBFS = +18 dBu.
You can use the ADC inputs in two ways:
- Feed line-level signals from alternative microphone preamps or other sources directly to the converters.
- Connect the analogue outputs to external EQ, compression or other processing, then return the processed signals to the ADC inputs to form eight insert paths.
Press the channel’s front-panel A-D switch to select its direct ADC input / insert return.
