Getting Started

Before you begin

Check iD Range Compatibility for the current supported operating systems before installing or connecting iD4 MKII.

iD4 MKII can connect to:

  • a USB-C port using the supplied USB-C to USB-C cable
  • a suitable USB-A 3.0 port using a USB-C to USB-A cable

A USB-C to USB-A cable is not supplied.

macOS

iD4 MKII is class compliant on macOS, so a separate audio driver is not required for normal operation.

  1. Connect iD4 MKII to the Mac using USB.
  2. Check that the white USB status LED illuminates.
  3. In macOS Sound settings, select iD4 as the audio input/output device as required.
  4. In your DAW, select iD4 as the audio device.

The iD application is not required for normal macOS audio operation, but it is required to install iD4 MKII firmware updates.

Windows

iD4 MKII requires the Audient iD driver on Windows. Current Audient compatibility guidance supports Windows 10 and Windows 11.

  1. Register iD4 MKII in Audient ARC and download the latest iD4 software and Windows driver.
  2. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Connect iD4 MKII to the computer using USB.
  4. Check that the white USB status LED illuminates.
  5. Select iD4 as the Windows audio device.
  6. In your DAW, select iD4 as the audio device.

The Windows installation also installs the iD application, which provides access to sample-rate and buffer settings and firmware updates.

iOS and iPadOS

iD4 MKII does not require a driver or app for supported iOS or iPadOS operation. Check iD Range Compatibility for current compatibility information.

Lightning devices

Use an Apple Camera Connection Kit and a powered USB hub. Connect iD4 MKII to the powered hub, then connect the hub to the iOS or iPadOS device through the Camera Connection Kit.

USB-C devices

Available power varies between USB-C iOS and iPadOS devices. Current Audient guidance states that most iPhones, including some USB-C models, require a powered USB hub to provide enough power for iD4 MKII.

Register iD4 MKII

Register your interface through Audient ARC.

You will need the iD4 MKII serial number and the unique four-digit PIN printed on the underside of the unit. Enter the serial number with its dashes. Do not use the GTIN13 number printed on the product box as the registration PIN.

Once registered, ARC provides access to the current drivers, software and product resources available for iD4 MKII.

Firmware updates

Firmware updates for iD4 MKII are installed using the iD application.

  • macOS: install/open the current iD application and follow the update prompt when an update is available.
  • Windows: the iD application is installed with the Windows driver and checks for firmware updates when iD4 MKII is connected.
  • iOS/iPadOS: firmware cannot be updated directly. Connect iD4 MKII to a supported Mac or Windows computer instead.

See How to Update the iD4's Firmware for the current update guidance.

If an offline computer needs a firmware update, contact Audient Support for assistance.
