Monitoring and Controls
Volume encoder
Turn the main volume encoder to change the level of both the speaker and headphone outputs.
Press the encoder to dim the output by 15 dB. Press it again to return to the previous listening level.
While the volume is being adjusted, the main meters show the level setting. They then return to showing peak output level.
Monitor Mix
The Monitor Mix control blends the live mic/line and instrument inputs with playback from the computer. This provides direct, very-low-latency monitoring of the live inputs.
- Turn towards INPUT to hear more of the live inputs.
- Turn towards DAW to hear more computer playback.
When Monitor Mix is turned fully to INPUT, the top meter shows the mic/line input level and the bottom meter shows the instrument-input level.
When using iD4 MKII direct monitoring, disable software/input monitoring for the same signal in your DAW to avoid hearing a second delayed copy.
Monitoring a live microphone through speakers in the same room can cause feedback. Mute the speakers or move Monitor Mix fully to DAW when the microphone should not be monitored through the speakers.
Monitor Pan
Monitor Pan changes the stereo position of the two live inputs in the direct-monitor mix.
- Hold Mute + iD and turn the volume encoder clockwise to pan channel 1 left and channel 2 right.
- Hold Mute + iD and turn the encoder anti-clockwise to pan channel 1 right and channel 2 left.
- While holding Mute + iD, press the encoder to reset Monitor Pan.
While Monitor Pan is being adjusted, the top meter represents the mic/line input and the bottom meter represents the instrument input.
Mute Speakers
Press Mute Speakers to mute the speaker outputs while leaving the headphone output active.
iD button and ScrollControl
Press the iD button to activate ScrollControl. The main encoder can then act as a virtual scroll wheel for compatible computer software.
Move the pointer over the control you want to adjust and rotate the encoder. ScrollControl behaviour depends on how the DAW or plug-in responds to mouse-wheel scrolling, so some controls or applications may not support it.
Metering
During normal operation, the main meters show peak output level. The meters temporarily change function while you adjust volume or Monitor Pan, and show the two live input levels when Monitor Mix is turned fully to INPUT.
