Hardware Overview

ASP800 front-panel controls

Front panel

  • 48 V phantom power: Stable, regulated phantom power for each microphone input.
  • Polarity reverse: Available on channels 1 and 2 for phase-coherent multi-microphone recording.
  • −15 dB pad: Available on all eight channels for additional headroom.
  • Gain: 0–70 dB Class-A microphone gain.
  • Discrete JFET D.I.: Instrument inputs on channels 1 and 2.
  • HMX: Engages and controls RETRO colour stage 1 on channels 1 and 2, ranging from SWEET to THICK.
  • IRON: Engages and controls RETRO colour stage 2 on channels 1 and 2, ranging from SPARKLE to GROWL.
  • Signal and peak LEDs: Signal indication at −38 dBFS and peak indication at −2 dBFS. The thresholds move with the selected ADC reference level.
  • Sample rate and lock: Selects 44.1, 48, 88.2 or 96 kHz internal operation, or external synchronisation. A flashing green LOCK switch indicates external mode; solid green indicates lock.
  • Power indicator: Shows that ASP800 is powered.
