Inputs and Outputs
NERO provides a range of input options for connecting different devices and a wide choice of outputs for centralising studio monitoring.
SRC 1 and SRC 2
SRC 1 and SRC 2 are balanced analogue TRS line inputs and can be connected to any analogue line-output device.
Typically, SRC 1 would be the main input used for monitoring and would be fed from the stereo outputs of an audio interface.
Alt input
There are three independent Alt inputs:
- Two digital inputs
- One analogue Aux input
Use the Alt input button on the front of NERO to switch between the Alt inputs.

Analogue Aux inputs
The Aux input provides RCA inputs and a mini-jack input for connecting devices such as a CD player or mobile phone.
When the RCA and mini-jack inputs are connected at the same time, the RCA inputs are overridden by the mini-jack input.
Use the trim control to quickly set and match the Aux input level to the other inputs. This is useful when a connected line-level source is particularly hot.
Digital inputs
NERO provides optical and coaxial S/PDIF inputs supporting sample rates up to 192 kHz.
When using the S/PDIF inputs, NERO automatically locks to a valid incoming signal.
If the source is selected but no valid input is detected, the corresponding LED flashes. Check that audio is being sent from the correct output on the source device.
When the signal is locked, the LED stops flashing and remains illuminated.
Cue input
Like SRC 1 and SRC 2, the Cue input accepts a balanced line-level signal using TRS jacks.
It would typically be used to provide a foldback mix for performers.

Main output
The Main output is typically connected to the main set of speakers.
The connectors are balanced analogue TRS line outputs.
Alt outputs
NERO provides two pairs of Alt outputs for connecting two additional speaker pairs.
This allows a mix to be quickly referenced on different speaker systems.
The connectors are balanced analogue TRS line outputs.
Sub output
The Sub output is used to connect a subwoofer so that the low end of a mix can be checked.
The Sub output can also be assigned to particular speaker outputs. See Smart Touchpoints.
Headphone outputs
NERO provides one monitor-grade headphone output on the front of the unit. This would typically be used by the engineer to reference mixes on headphones or during recording sessions.
Three additional foldback-grade headphone outputs are provided for performers, allowing different inputs and foldback mixes to be sent to the artists.
