DAW Setup
Install and connect iD14 MKII before configuring your DAW.
Monitoring and buffer size
Lower audio-buffer settings reduce software-monitoring latency but increase the processing load on the computer. Higher buffer settings reduce CPU load and are generally more suitable when latency is less important.
If you monitor recording inputs through the iD Mixer, disable software or input monitoring for those tracks in your DAW to avoid hearing the input through both the direct and software-monitoring paths.
Pro Tools
Select iD14
Open Setup > Playback Engine and select iD14 as the active audio device.
On Windows, buffer-size and sample-rate settings are available from the iD system-tray application.
Configure I/O
Open Setup > I/O and confirm that the required iD14 input and output paths are available.
If the routing does not match the connected interface, use Pro Tools' Default function to rebuild the paths for the selected Playback Engine.
Logic Pro
Open Logic Pro > Settings > Audio > Devices.
Select iD14 as the input and output device and choose an appropriate I/O Buffer Size.
If playback is unstable or Logic reports system overloads, increase the buffer size.
Direct monitoring
If you monitor inputs through the iD Mixer, disable Software Monitoring in Logic.
I/O labels
Open Mix > I/O Labels to rename iD14 inputs and outputs.
Sample rate and external clocking
Set the project sample rate from File > Project Settings > Audio.
If iD14 MKII is synchronised to an external ADAT or S/PDIF source, make sure the Logic project sample rate matches the external clock.
If required, use macOS Audio MIDI Setup to inspect the current device configuration.
Cubase and Nuendo
Open Studio > Studio Setup > Audio System and select the Audient audio driver.
Then open Studio > Audio Connections, or press F4.
Create the input and output buses required for the session and assign them to the appropriate iD14 ports.
If you monitor recording inputs through the iD Mixer, disable input monitoring on those tracks in Cubase or Nuendo.
Ableton Live
Open Live Settings and select the Audio page.
- On macOS, use CoreAudio.
- On Windows, use ASIO.
Select iD14 as the required input and output audio device.
Use Input Config and Output Config to enable the channels required for the Live Set. Disabling unused channels can reduce audio-system CPU overhead.
Choose a suitable audio buffer size for the session.
Direct monitoring
If you monitor the recording input through the iD Mixer, set the Live audio track's Monitor control to Off.
