Digital I/O and Clocking
All digitally connected devices in a system must be synchronised to one clock source.
ADAT channel counts
EVO SP8 provides two ADAT optical inputs and two ADAT optical outputs.
| Sample rate | Channels per optical connection | Connections required for all 8 channels |
|---|---|---|
| 44.1 kHz | 8 | 1 |
| 48 kHz | 8 | 1 |
| 88.2 kHz | 4 | 2 |
| 96 kHz | 4 | 2 |
At 88.2 and 96 kHz, EVO SP8 uses ADAT SMUX operation. EVO SP8 does not support 176.4 or 192 kHz.
Clock Source settings
- Internal — EVO SP8 uses its own internal clock.
- Digital — EVO SP8 synchronises to clock received through incoming ADAT.
- Word Clock — EVO SP8 synchronises to the signal received at its BNC Word Clock Input.
When using Digital or Word Clock, set Sample Rate to Auto unless the documented system configuration requires otherwise.
Word Clock Termination
EVO SP8 provides switchable word-clock termination for its BNC input.
Set termination On when EVO SP8 is the final device in the word-clock chain. If a BNC T-connector is used and the clock continues from one EVO SP8 to another device, set the intermediate EVO SP8 termination Off and the final device termination On.
See Expanded EVO Systems for worked connection examples.
