| ADAT | A multichannel digital audio format carried over optical connections. |
| BNC | A locking coaxial connector commonly used for word-clock connections. |
| Clock master | The device providing the timing reference used by the other connected digital audio devices. |
| Clock source | The timing reference selected for a digital audio system. |
| Control Wheel | The rotary push control on the Horizon 32 front panel, used for monitor level, Motion UI metering and front-panel Settings. |
| DAW | Digital Audio Workstation. Software used to record, edit, mix and play audio. |
| dB | Decibel. A unit used to express an audio level or level ratio. |
| dBFS | Decibels relative to digital full scale. 0 dBFS is the maximum digital level. |
| D-sub | A multi-pin connector used to carry several analogue audio channels through one connection. |
| Fast Scroll Bar | A Mixer control used to move quickly through larger channel configurations. |
| Firmware | Software stored inside Horizon hardware that controls its operation. |
| Independent Mix | One of four separate monitoring mixes, Mix A–D, which can use balances different from the Main Mix. |
| Line level | An analogue signal level used between compatible audio devices. |
| Main Mix | The primary monitoring mix in Horizon Control. |
| Monitor Profile | A saved monitoring configuration associated with a Speaker Layout. |
| Monitoring path | The signal path used for listening. Horizon monitoring controls can change this path without changing the recorded input level sent to the DAW. |
| Motion UI | The Horizon 32 Motion UI used for metering, output information, monitoring-state feedback and hardware Settings. |
| Primary device | The connected Horizon device currently controlling the active monitoring system. |
| Routing Matrix | The Horizon Control grid used to route available sources to physical outputs on the selected Horizon device. |
| S/PDIF | A two-channel digital audio format supported by Horizon in S/PDIF Digital Mode. |
| Sample rate | The number of digital audio samples captured or reproduced per second, expressed in kHz. |
| Speaker Layout | A saved monitoring speaker channel configuration used by Monitor Profiles. Physical output routing is configured separately in the Routing Matrix. |
| Stereo pair | Two supported sequential mono channels linked for stereo operation. |
| Thunderbolt | The high-speed host connection used by Horizon for audio/data and Horizon device daisy chaining. |
| TRS | Tip-Ring-Sleeve. A three-conductor jack connection commonly used for balanced analogue audio. |
| Virtual Channel | A Mixer channel carrying playback audio from the host computer. |
| Word clock | A timing signal used to synchronise digital audio devices. |
| Ω | Ohms. The unit used to measure electrical resistance or impedance. |
