Getting Started, Power and Safety
Unpacking
Your ASP4816-SE has been tested and inspected before dispatch. Check the console and packaging for any signs of transit damage. If damage is found, notify the carrier and your dealer.
The package should include:
- ASP4816-SE console
- IEC mains power cable
- Manual
Important safety instructions
Before connecting the console to mains power, read and retain the safety information supplied with the product. ASP4816-SE is connected to mains safety earth through its IEC power cable.
Never operate the console with the mains earth connection removed.
Internal power supply and mains fuse
ASP4816-SE uses an internal, passively cooled switch-mode power supply and accepts 90–264 V AC mains input. Ensure the available mains supply is within this range.
Do not tamper with the internal power supply or mains-voltage circuitry. Hazardous voltages are present inside the console.
Always replace the mains fuse with the specified type: T2A slow-blow.
Service and repair
Internal servicing should only be carried out by suitably qualified personnel. If the console requires attention, contact Audient Support before attempting a repair.
If access to the internal assemblies is required, switch the console off and disconnect the IEC mains cable before opening the unit.
For the current service-access procedure, see Audient's How Can I Get Service Access to the ASP4816 guidance.
Ventilation
Do not obstruct the ventilation openings underneath the armrest, in the console sides or around the meter bridge. The console relies on airflow through these openings for adequate cooling.
If the ASP4816-SE is installed into studio furniture, provide sufficient clearance around the ventilation areas.
Control-surface overlay
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as this may adversely affect the polycarbonate control-surface overlay and control knobs.
Power-up
After switching on the console, check that the +48 V DC and ±18 V DC power-rail indicators illuminate on the right-hand side of the console.
