Installation and Safety

Unpacking

Inspect the console for signs of transit damage before installation. If damage is found, contact the carrier and the supplying dealer.

The original package includes:

  • ASP4816 console
  • IEC mains power cable
  • Manual

Mains earth

danger

ASP4816 is connected to mains safety earth through its IEC power cable. Never operate the console with the protective earth connection removed.

Mains power and fuse

ASP4816 uses an internal passively cooled switch-mode power supply and accepts 90–264 V AC mains input.

Do not tamper with the power supply or mains-voltage circuitry. Internal mains voltages are hazardous and service work must only be carried out by suitably qualified personnel.

If the mains fuse must be replaced, use the specified T2A slow-blow fuse.

Ventilation

Do not obstruct the ventilation openings beneath the armrest, in the console sides or around the meter bridge.

When the console is installed into studio furniture, leave sufficient free space around these ventilation points so that heat can escape and air can circulate.

Avoid prolonged exposure of the control-surface overlay and control knobs to direct sunlight.

Power-up check

After powering on the console, confirm that the power-rail indicators for +48 V, +18 V and -18 V illuminate on the right-hand side of the meter bridge.
