Routing and Auxiliaries

The routing section normally sends the SF path to the 16 record buses. Buses 1–8 also feed the eight subgroup paths in parallel.

ASP4816 Classic routing and auxiliary controls

Record-bus routing

  • The eight numbered routing switches select buses 1–8.
  • Press SHIFT to use the same switches for buses 9–16.
  • Multiple buses can be selected at the same time.
  • PAN allows the signal to be positioned between selected odd/even bus pairs.
  • LF replaces the normal SF source at the routing matrix with the LF path. This can be useful for bouncing, subgrouping or additional send workflows during mixdown.

When LF and PAN are engaged, the post-fader, post-pan LF signal can be routed to selected odd/even buses.

Aux and Cue sends

ASP4816 Classic provides six Aux sends plus Cue A and Cue B, giving eight send outputs in total.

For each Aux pair:

  • LEVEL sets the send level.
  • SF changes the source from the LF path to the SF path.
  • PRE selects pre-fader operation instead of the normal post-fader source.

Cue A and Cue B operate in the same general way and can each be moved to the SF path. They are intended primarily for Foldback mixes but may also be used as additional sends.

For overall output level and Aux linking, see Talkback and Master Controls.
