Oscillator, Talkback and Solo
Oscillator
The built-in oscillator can be used for signal-routing checks, speaker checks and system alignment.
Available frequencies are:
- 40 Hz
- 1 kHz
- 10 kHz
- 15 kHz
The oscillator can be routed directly to buses 1–16 or to the stereo Mix bus. Output level is adjustable.
Keep the oscillator switched OFF during normal operation when it is not required.
The same master section contains PFL/AFL selection, Solo-in-Front and SIP. See Metering and Solo for detailed solo behaviour and the SIP recording warning.
Talkback
The talkback microphone input has 48 V phantom power enabled by default, allowing a condenser talkback microphone to be used. Phantom power can be disabled by an internal link; contact Audient Support for further information.
Talkback can be sent to:
- SLATE BUS OUTPUTS — sends talkback to the bus outputs, for example for recorded track identification.
- STUDIO LOUDSPEAKERS — sends talkback to the studio speaker output.
- ARTIST FOLDBACK — sends talkback to the two foldback outputs.
Engaging a talkback destination dims the control-room monitors to reduce feedback and improve intelligibility. This dimming does not alter the normal console output signals.
Remote talkback switching
The Foldback and Studio Loudspeaker talkback functions can be remotely switched from the rear-panel footswitch connections. Use a latching footswitch that shorts Tip to Ground.
