Studio, Foldback and Monitoring

Studio loudspeaker and foldback sources​

The Studio Loudspeaker, Foldback 1 and Foldback 2 paths can be fed from:

  • EXT 1
  • EXT 2
  • Control Room
  • Cue A
  • Cue B
ASP4816-HE Studio Loudspeaker and Foldback controls

Cue A and Cue B are mono sources and can be independently selected to the left and right sides of a Studio or Foldback output. This makes it possible to build mono or stereo artist feeds.

Each output has its own level control. The Studio Loudspeaker section has an ON switch. Foldback 1 and 2 provide SOLO switches for checking the artist feeds through the control-room system; these solos are AFL.

Control-room monitoring​

ASP4816-HE supports four stereo monitor pairs:

  • Main
  • ALT 1
  • ALT 2
  • ALT 3

Available control-room sources are MIX, DAW, EXT 1 and EXT 2.

The Main Volume control sets the level for the selected Main/ALT monitor path. Each ALT output has its own trim so monitor pairs can be level-matched.

Monitoring controls include:

  • MONO for mono-compatibility checking.
  • Independent Left and Right CUT.
  • Global CUT.
  • DIM, reducing the monitor level by 15 dB.

ALT 3 also feeds the console's headphone output.

Studio and Foldback output connections​

The Studio and Foldback outputs are balanced line-level outputs. Connect the Studio output to powered monitors or a suitable loudspeaker amplifier. Connect Foldback outputs to an appropriate headphone amplifier for artist headphones.
