Glossary
AFL (After-Fade Listen)
Auditions a post-fader signal through the monitor/solo system.
Auxiliary
A secondary mix bus used for effects sends, foldback or other parallel signal paths. ASP4816-HE auxiliary sends can be switched pre/post fader and between LF/SF where provided.
Auxiliary Master
Controls the overall output level of an auxiliary bus.
Bus Master Trim
Final ±10 dB level trim for a bus output.
Cut
Mutes the selected signal path.
Dim
Reduces the control-room monitor level by a preset amount. ASP4816-HE uses 15 dB monitor Dim.
Equaliser (EQ)
Frequency-selective gain control. ASP4816-HE provides HF and LF shelves plus HMF and LMF parametric bands.
FLIP
Swaps Mic/Line and DAW input assignments between the LF and SF paths.
Foldback
An artist monitoring feed, commonly built from Cue A/B and returned to performers through a headphone-amplifier system.
In-line console
A console architecture containing two signal paths within one physical input strip. On ASP4816-HE these are the LF and SF paths.
Insert point
Breaks a signal path so an external processor can be connected in series. Use INSERT IN to switch the associated return into circuit.
LF (Long Fader)
The signal path normally used for DAW returns, monitoring and final mixing. The darker areas of the channel strip are associated with LF.
Line input
A high-level input intended for line-level sources such as DAW outputs and other audio equipment.
Mic input
A microphone-level input intended for low-level sources such as microphones.
Mix
Assignment to the main stereo Mix bus. Both LF and SF paths can be assigned to the stereo Mix where provided.
Pan
Controls the relative level sent to left/right or odd/even buses, positioning a mono signal within a stereo pair.
Q
Describes the bandwidth of a peaking EQ filter. Lower Q affects a wider frequency range; higher Q affects a narrower range.
Routing
Selecting which console bus output or outputs receive a signal.
SF (Short Fader)
The signal path normally used for Mic/Line recording and bus routing. The lighter areas of the channel strip are associated with SF.
SHIFT
Changes the eight routing switches from buses 1–8 to buses 9–16.
Solo-in-Place (SIP)
Solo mode that changes the stereo Mix output so only the soloed source or sources remain on the Mix bus. Do not use SIP where changing a recording made from the Mix output would be undesirable.
Stereo bus
The main left/right Mix bus of the console.
