Troubleshooting and FAQ
iD48 will not power on
iD48 is mains powered; USB does not power the interface.
- Check that the supplied/appropriate IEC mains cable is fully connected to iD48 and a working mains outlet.
- If a switched power strip is being used, confirm it is on and test the outlet with another device if safe to do so.
- Press the Main Monitor encoder once to power iD48 on.
- If the unit still shows no power indication, disconnect it from mains and contact Audient Support. Do not open the chassis.
To power down normally, press and hold the Main Monitor encoder for approximately 3 seconds.
iD48 is powered but the computer does not detect it
- Check the USB-C cable at both ends.
- Connect directly to a compatible USB 2.0-or-later host port rather than through an unpowered/unsupported hub.
- Try another known-good data-capable USB cable/port.
- On Windows, confirm the current Audient iD driver is installed through ARC.
- Restart the computer and iD48 if required.
There is no requirement to open the iD Software Mixer after every power-up merely to establish USB communication.
No audio from the DAW
- Confirm iD48 is selected as the DAW's input/output device or playback engine.
- Check that the DAW master/output is assigned to the intended iD48 channels.
- In the iD mixer, confirm the corresponding DAW Return is unmuted and routed to the required Main/Cue mix.
- Check the physical monitor/headphone level controls and the selected Main/Alt path.
- If DAW THRU is in use, confirm the Routing Matrix is sending the intended DAW channels to the intended physical outputs.
Clicks, pops or distortion with digital equipment
Clicks/pops with ADAT, S/PDIF or word-clock devices usually indicate a clocking or sample-rate problem.
- Choose one device as the clock master.
- Set iD48's Preferred Clock Source to Internal, Digital 1, Digital 2 or Word Clock as appropriate.
- Configure each optical port separately as ADAT or S/PDIF to match the connected device.
- Confirm every device is using the same sample rate.
- When clocking iD48 externally, check that the status indicator is green.
- Use 75-ohm BNC cabling for word clock and terminate the final/only device correctly.
Audio glitches or dropouts
- Increase the DAW/audio buffer size.
- Close unnecessary background applications.
- Avoid unsupported USB hubs/adapters.
- Confirm digital clocking is stable if external digital equipment is connected.
- Check that the computer meets the current supported-system requirements.
Select iD48 as the operating-system audio device
macOS
Open System Settings > Sound and select iD48 for the required input/output role.
Windows
Open Settings > System > Sound and select the required iD48 input/output device.
Reset the iD Software Mixer to its default state
If the mixer configuration appears corrupted or behaves unexpectedly, close the iD application and remove the state.xml file from the iD settings folder. The file is recreated when the application next launches.
Typical locations are:
macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Audient/iD/state.xml
Windows
%AppData%\Audient\iD\state.xml
Delete only state.xml. Do not delete the parent iD/Audient folder, because it can contain saved mixer presets and other user data.
Update software and firmware
Register/access iD48 through Audient ARC for the current software and Windows driver. Use Help > Check for Updates in the iD application for update checking and the current firmware-updater workflow described in Presets, Firmware and Shortcuts.
