Mic and Line Inputs
The ASP8024-HE microphone preamp uses a transformerless eight-transistor design. Each channel also has a separate DAW/Tape return, allowing the recording input and playback return to be available at the same time.
Input meters
The channel meters show the Mic/Line and DAW/Tape return levels in dBu.
- By default the large meter displays the DAW/Tape return.
- The small meter displays the Mic/Line input.
- MTR FLIP swaps those meter sources.
- The OVER indication warns that the measured path is approaching overload.
DAW/Tape return controls
- INSERT ACTIVE places the DAW/Tape insert return in the playback/mix path.
- TRIM adjusts the DAW/Tape return level by ±15 dB for gain staging.
Mic/Line controls
- LINE selects the Line input instead of the Mic input.
- INSERT ACTIVE places the Mic/Line insert in the recording input path.
- GAIN provides 6 to 60 dB of gain on Mic and -14 to 40 dB on Line.
- POLARITY (Ø) reverses the input polarity.
- 48V supplies phantom power for microphones that require it.
- HPF engages the 75 Hz high-pass filter on the Mic/Line signal.
Phantom power
Mute the relevant channel and reduce speaker/headphone monitoring before switching 48 V on or off. Only use phantom power with equipment designed to accept it.
The physical Mic/Line insert and DAW/Tape insert remain associated with their input circuits even when CH FLIP swaps the sources between LF and SF.
