Routing and Auxiliaries
The routing matrix can send a channel to any of the 24 multitrack buses. The channel also provides 12 numbered auxiliaries and two cue sends for effects, foldback and other secondary mixes.
Multitrack bus routing
The 12 routing switches address buses 1–12 normally and 13–24 when SHIFT is engaged.
- BUS ROUTING switches assign the channel to the selected bus or buses.
- SHIFT offsets the routing switches by 12.
- FOLLOW PAN uses the channel pan position across odd/even bus pairs. Odd buses carry the left side and even buses the right side.
- LF changes the routing source from the default Short Fader path to the Long Fader path.
For standard tracking, leave routing on SF so the Mic/Line record path feeds the multitrack buses. Use LF when routing a DAW/Tape return or other LF-path signal to the buses.
Auxiliary sends
Each send-level control varies from off to 0 dB.
- The numbered sends use LF by default.
- The SF and PRE switches are shared by Aux send pairs: 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6.
- SF changes both sends in the corresponding pair from the Long Fader path to the Short Fader path.
- PRE takes both sends in that pair before the selected LF or SF fader rather than after it.
- 7–8, 9–10 and 11–12 change the corresponding Aux 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6 controls to Aux 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12.
Pre-fader sends are useful for artist headphone/foldback mixes because changes to the channel fader do not change the send level. Post-fader sends are commonly used for effects where the effect level should follow the channel level.
Cue A and Cue B
Cue A and Cue B operate as additional send buses and are intended particularly for artist foldback. Use the SF/PRE controls in the Cue section to select the required channel path and pre-/post-fader behaviour. The two Cue buses can also be treated as a stereo pair, with Cue A feeding the left side and Cue B the right side.
